CAIPS Timeline??

Hello,
I have mailed my CAIPS request on May 9th,2011. Today (June 15th) I see the check ($5) went through my bank. Does anybody have experience about the time it takes to get CAIPS from the date of check processing?

P.S. I have received an update from CIC Singapore (after 2.5 yrs) 2 weeks ago.

They say it takes abt 30 days. But I've seen people getting theirs in like 2 wks...with a bit of pushing ofcourse.

Not sure if u hv a contact.

Hmm, I don't know because my husband paid with his account. I will post here if I find out anything more, or if we receive it.

i acutally sent it two weeks ago and since then i havent got any reply.my wife requested the caips and she is canadian citizen and we did not pay 5 $ is it ok?or do we have to send a 5 dollar cheque but she is the one who is sponsering me and i am right now in canada.so please let me know if we did it right ?

you have to py $5 David, or u wife rather! I sent a pdf of the completed forms & copy of cheque to the lady I have mentioned and she emailed me back to include my file #(which she gv) when I send the chq in the mail. I think u got to be a little pushy...cause it's just a matter of printing what's in the system already and I don't know why they tk so long.

so what should i do now?i already sent them the forms,and the consent letter was just typed on a paper and signed and dated by me.do I have to fill the forms again and send them the request with 5 dollars cheque or should i call them and let them know that i have forgotten to send them the 5 dollar cheque?the official side of immigration says this( A Canadian citizen living abroad can also send in the application on your behalf, but there is a C$5 fee in this situation).so that means if the canadian citizen lives in canada not abroad so he or she doesnt have to pay for it.

I would say it's better to let them know u forgot abt it and say u'll be sending it in the mail.
But why don't u call and check what's happening with ur req? That way if it's the $5 that's holding it back, then they'll tell u to mail it.
As fot the form, though I don't think it's going to be an issue, I don't know if they are strict abt it. May be u can check on that too! Good luck!

I did call there but there is an answering machine but i just sent her an email.

Hi david26,
I had submitted a request for CAIPS notes as well and had neglected to include a $5 cheque. One of the people that process them called me up 1 or 2 weeks after I had sent it to request the additional cheque.

HOWEVER, on the phone, she told me that if my husband was IN Canada, it is under the Privacy Act and would be free (even if he isn't a citizen or resident). But since he is out of Canada, I had to pay $5. If I understood correctly, if you are inside Canada, I believe you DON'T need to include $5 . If anything they will contact you quickly enough about it requesting it.

This is the response I got this morning on the email I sent to Monique yesterday:

"Hello, my name is Alina Haramita and Mrs Monique Guindon forwarded me your e mail yesterday. I can see in the system that your file was received by us on May 17 and the due date is actually today, June 16. Your file has been reviewed and it's at its last step in the process so I am confident that your file will be ready today."

I have requested her just now if it is possible to email me the notes as with postal strike it might take weeks to get to me.
