Hi all
I'm currently a doctoral candiate in my third year at a top US research university. I am not sure how people here are familiar with how the US graduate school works. Basically, I've been on fellowship and various TA/RA positions in the past three years at the university. As you may know, for getting stipend and tuition waiver, most people work as RA/TA (which means 50% of time devoted to working for research projects that may or may not be related to your dissertation). As an unspoken rule, these positions all require you to work full time as a doctoral student.
Anyway, that means I have 3 years of 50% time paid TA. When I apply for FSW, can I claim those to be full time positions? Also, I worked under different professors but within the same field under the same program. Does that count as continuous work experience?
Thanks and that pretty much determines whether or not I am eligible for the new FSW. I appreicate any response.
