Hi Guys, we are an indian family moving to Canada (Toronto) in 15 days time. We would like to carry some necessary items with us and would like to know - are the stovetops in canada (specifically Toronto) gas based (i.e. They have a flame) or induction based (non flame). Would be great to have some info on this.

Thanks.

There's no single answer.

Both are available. I would say it's about 40% (gas) / 60% (electric).

If you are buying the stove yourself, you can obviously choose what you buy. If you are either renting or buying a place that already has a stove - then sometimes they will be gas and sometimes they will be electric.

More precisely, there are 3 types:

1) Gas (only available in houses where owner prefers a gas burner cooktop, not so common)
2) Electric (very common in rental apartments)
3) Induction (common in houses, newer houses)
