It seems that it would not take so long. It is probably two or three months in my mind.

CNN Business Report says US's economy could get slower in Coming months, just missed out the chunk where the said the reason for that. anything to USA means a problem for Canadian job creation. I guess that is the only reason why Passports are taking usually more time to get back.
