My husband and I just got email asking us to send the passports for stamping. We live in the US and we had a couple of questions on how to send the passports to them and receive them back.

We are planning to send the passports from US to Canada via fedex.

Question 1:

The email from Visa Office lists 2 address that we could send the passport to,

Canada Post:
CPC – Ottawa
PO Box 9780
Ottawa ON K1G 4B9

Courier:
CPC – Ottawa
365 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa ON K1A 1L1

Since we are not using CanadaPost to send the possport do we send it to Second "Courier" address?

Question 2:
We want to include the Xpresspost envelope from CanadaPost to be used for returning the passport back to us. What do we put in as the "Shipping from address"

Thanks in advance for your time!

Congrats hxp, would you kindly let us know your timeline?
Thanks

Guys,
A quick update,
a) I received my passport last Thursday May 08th
b) CPP took 4 working days to stamp our passports (Spouse and Mine) and my ecas indicated "DM" before my passports were shipped to CPP
c)Canada post took three days to deliver it to USA

Couple of inputs for folks sending and receiving passports from USA
a) I have heard some guys having trouble printing the shipping labels, I didn't face any trouble as I used credit card which allowed transaction in canadian dollars and I used chrome browser

b) When entering your address for creating shipping label, don't click the apt check box, it will create address
as "123"-"5678" Street name i.e. Apt number- Street number and it might be confusing to local USPS (probably) so use the second line if you want to capture Apartment number

c) tracking, Canadian post has irregular updates on it's site, but you can use the same tracking number on USPS site and it will give very frequent updates and it will help you to plan your day i.e. you can ensure somebody is at home to sign and pick the package

d) USPS delivered this package by 10:30 AM in the morning, luckily I was at home to pick it up, it's a priority mail and they have deadlines, so they will deliver this first before any regular mail comes to your block. They will ask for signature and it's a must without which the package will be taken back to post office and it will not be left at Apartment office or front desk

e)Another very interesting thing, I asked my friend to ship a prepaid envelope from Canada to USA through fedex (I sent him shipping label) and when the package arrived it has US Customs label i.e. it was opened by US Customs. So if you are planning to get passports from CPP to a local Canadian address and then get it shipped through Fedex you might be at risk, please avoid this route.

Hope this helps other folks

Guys:
I received an email requesting for document update (including the generic form M....0008). The list was long including:
1. 6-month bank statement showing a history of withdrawals and deposits
2. Secondary school diplomas and transcripts - Our my country only provides a diploma with grades on it
3. State Bkground check (USA). I had provided FBI before)
4. Copies of passports with no less than 6 months before expiry date.

Is this normal, especially with #1?

Hello all! Thank God we landed successfully today at the Ambassador Bridge. However, something strange happened when they were giving us back our passports. The officer stapled our COPR to our passports. Another officer said that we could not leave Canada with our COPR, that Canada wouldn't let us leave without our PR cards. Huh? Now I was just thinking he misspoke so I asked for clarification and asked, do you mean we can't get back in without our PR cards? And he said "no you can't leave, Canada won't let you leave without PR card. If you want to leave on the passport and copr you have to fly out of USA." He was very polite and I already knew that you can't come back into Canada with COPR from air after landing. But I have never heard that you can't leave. I think he just misspoke or wasn't sure/didn't know you can get a travel document to fly back home to Canada if you haven't received your PR card. My husband is due to leave Canada later on this week. I'm sure he can leave, I'm just a little nervous now with what he said. Any feedback?

Congratulations Wolvy, good to hear you have landed safely. I think your instincts about what the officer said is correct. I'm glad everything else went smoothly :)

Hi Samnov,

By #1 and #4 I was referring to the list 2011july20 made. I was asked for
1. 6-month bank statement showing a history of withdrawals and deposits
and
4. Copies of passports with no less than 6 months before expiry date.
shortly before getting PPR.

I hope this helps.

Congrats! You'll be getting your ppr soon after submitting the docs. These are all normal things, I was requested 1 & 4 with the fbi checks. I also seen depending on the IO they request state background checks in addition to the fbi. Good luck.

Thanks! Looking forward to your landing soon. We went to CIC website and confirmed you can leave prior to PR issuance. I hope you'll be getting your COPR soon. I've not been checking the forum regularly, any update about the missing COPR?

Hi again Wolvy:

No, I have no updates. It has now been 9 weeks since they mailed my COPR. I have written to them and they don't answer back. Honestly I don't know what else to do, seems August will come and my visa will expire.

Someone mentioned there was a way to file a formal complaint, but I have not found anything on CIC website... unbelievable.
