please advise us regarding PCC

This is time line : FSW2
We received your application for permanent residence on January 9, 2012.
We started processing your application on September 12, 2013.
Updated document request in Aug 2013
Medical request on 16, Sep 2013
CIC asked for PCC along with Medical
We submitted PCC already in 2012. (mine was issued in may 2012, my husband's in oct 2012 //// certificte says it's valid 6 months)
the thing is that getting a new PCC from my country doesn't take long time..Max.2-3weeks.
me and my husband used to live in Qatar. We waited for PCC from Qatar 7-8months. we knew it takes quite a long time that's why we submitted earlier.
Lawyer emailed PCC exemption request to CIC 2 weeks ago . still No response..
we have been living in Canada since 2009. we never went back to Qatar since 2009.

hey glengrove,

same was case with me... they asked PCC for my wife along with medicals.
but in my home country (India), you can take PCC through embassy which takes 1-2months or through Senior Police Official which takes 4-5days. i opted the second option of Police Official.

bottom line is of they have asked for PCC and are not allowing PCC Exempt, then you will have to provide it definitely.
but there should be option on CIC for Qatar PCC. either via embassy or Police. go to CIC and check it there.

Same was the case with me, I submitted pcc from pakisyan in 2012 and after that I havd never been in pakistan, butvstill they asked for pcc again for pakistan. I emailed the cic and asked if I have not still visited my home cohntry for more then 2 years, do I need to submit again. The reply was that "you still have to give the pcc of the period when you were in your home country, and it must be issued with current date". I dont know about the exemption of qatar. But if it is not exempt es d, you have to submit, no matter you were there or not. You have to provide for the period you were in qatar with current issue date.

hi malisa

please can you tell me how long it took to get a reply from CIC after you asked about PCC? I found a couple of threads regarding this issue,
one guy actually got a email from CIC after 4days and he did not need to resubmit PCC. I also read somewhere in this forum, it should be ok as long as PCC was submitted after you got AOR....
I really want to know what CIC has to say about my situation. how long normally does it take a response from CIC?? I haven't been hearing for 2 weeks..
