YES, u can go in for BOWP if u have AOR - apply close to the time of expiry of ur current cwp

Those on LMO CWP wont need to a re-LMO - they just have to go in for BOWP

Spouse status continues with same wp and gets extended along with ur application

Terki,

Your inputs have clarified most of my doubts .Thank you for that.

My employer specific work permit expires by Dec 2014.so my spouse has open work permit till Dec 2014.
Now that i am no longer working,i wanted to try and apply for OWP asap.Incase i succeed in getting BOWP sooner by quoting my case(lay off) for e.g:- if i am able to get BOWP by Dec 2013 for 1 year ,do you think my spouse can continue with existing OWP or need to apply for BOWP along with me?That part is still not clear to me.please advise. Thanks again.

Hi,
Today, I have received email from Ottawa replay to my update request one week ago.
"Please be advised that your immigration application is under process. Currently, background verifications are being conducted for which, unfortunately, I am unable to provide a completion time frame. Should additional information or documents be required, you will be notified."

I did my medical last year 13month, but no update about medical.
I don't know what is the background verifications? any one of you has idea, please share. I have no travel history at all. From my home country to Canada. few travel less than week.
Thanks

So far I know, background verification can take from months to years depending upon individuals. If you have been not ask for medicals they have have probably extended them or asked for extension. The only thing we can do is wait for them. Unfortunately, we don't have any other alternatives.

LUCKYMASCOT - Did u receive PPR or ecas DM BEFORE PPR

Hi, I didn't receive passport request yet. Before ppr the ecas showing decision made. That's why I am confused. I applied in federal skilled category

NOTE THIS : if u have applied PR under FSW2 u must remain in same job tied to employer till wp expiry or grant of PR - no exceptions apply
BOWP - u r not eligible under your circumstances - dont query elsewhere - believe me this is the rule and dont tweak any applications and loose time/money

hope this helps my friend

Hi All,

Today i received my CAIPS. As expected nothing has started on my file. Not even Background/criminality check. Ottawa shucks.
I am FSW1-MI2. Don't know when i will get some communication from Ottawa. I see few people who applied after me are getting medical request and updated document request.

Andy

It thus seems that it is better to refrain from requesting for status updates either by email or GCMS.In fact I wonder how we come across to them--desperate-I think.

thanks terki and JJ-C. :)

TQF is the abbrivation of Fedral skilled worker in French language. This is a department in ottawa where they hold the files and if anyone ask the information from their file they quickly access the file and reply to the inquirer.

My Timeline is almost close to you. I didn't get any updates from my application. CIC is just saying your application is in queue for review by an officer. I asked CIC to give me at least a timeline because I have to renew my permits, but they didn't say anything. We have to wait, not other solution.
