Hi All,

I am a June 2010 Applicant and my application was transferred from Buffalo visa office to Ottawa last year. Like most of you guys here I have been waiting for PR for a long time. I got married in December 2012. When I received my passport request in March 2013 I was asked by CIC to inform them of any changes in my family composition. So then I added my spouse to my PR application (FSW) and I have now received a medical request for my spouse from Ottawa.

My spouse is in the process of doing a medical examination. Because of a scar seen in her X-Ray she has been asked to do additional tests by the physician and we have been advised that it will take at least 45 days to get the results. My spouse does not show any symptoms of any medical condition.

Looking at my current situation (and the timeframe for completing the medical examination for my spouse) we are wondering if it is possible to change conditions in the PR application. By that I mean is it possible to inform CIC that my spouse will not be accompanying me now? This way if I get my PR now, I can sponsor my spouse at later date under family class.

Please advise. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Is there any reason why you ask same question in 2 different threads?

As per my understanding, you will commit fraud if you don't mention your immediate family (spouse/children) in your application before PPR, irrespective they are accompanying or not, that is how rule is setup. Eventually, if you get PPR and landing done,at the time of sponsorship, not only you will not be able to sponsor but your PR itself is likely to be cancelled.

Now given, in your case, already CIC came to know you are married, and your wife's med is in progress, only thing you can do is wait.

Thanks bongcan. Appreciate your help. I have decided to wait.
I think the rule is that you have to inform CIC any changes in the family composition before PR Visa is issued. It is advisable to inform them immediately. However for some reason if you are not able to inform CIC immediately, you have to inform them before PR visa is issued.
I have followed their guidelines so far and I think like you advised it is best for me to wait.
Thanks again!

Haven't received anything from them. I'm thinking, our files were not included to those who were transferred which would be good since we wont have additional months added due to the transition. All we do now is wait and wait..

Count me in, waiting too with similar time-line of application.

I have a question... On cic website it says that all applications MI02/03 – All files received between June 26, 2010 and June 30,2012 will be assessed in 2013. So what does assessed mean? This what I found on cic website.

If your application is eligible for processing, your application will be assessed against the following requirements:

minimum requirements
selection factors
sufficient funds
admissibility (criminality, security, medical)

So probably we should start getting MR pretty soon

Guys, please read the forum from the first page, use search, we already had this discussion about "assessed" couple of times.

It means that they will open your file this year (they promised), it does not mean anything about medical examination. Usually they start criminality check and open your file again when they have time for it.
