Thanks Nadeem for your time and response. This really helps.

Please share the contact info and other details, we will follow that. I have asked my lawyer to send an inquiry and have setup a meeting with my MP.

Do you recommend that I should go for Medical in advance?

I am waiting for my GCMS notes and will update you once I have it with me.

Hi All - I am presently here in Canada on a work permit, and also awaiting my residency. My existing work permit expires this August so I plan to apply for an open work permit this month. A couple of questions I have are:

1- the CIC site says 38 days processing time for online applications. Does anyone have any idea if that is an accurate timeline?

2- I'd like to take the Canadian Securities Course (CSC). From what I read, anyone can take this exam, but out of caution, does anyone know if this violates the conditions of my work permit? It's not considered attending school or university, it is simply a career related exam. Could someone please confirm this?

Thanks!!!

My application was received on 26th of July 2011. In the CIC website it keep showing IN PROCESS
I have sent couple of Emails to Ottawa Office and this is the reply i got from them

"This is in response to your email (see below).

Your application is in queue for review at our office. No further action is required by you at this time.

Once the file has been reviewed, we will communicate with you to advise of any further action or documents required.

We thank you for your patience.

Has any1 received any upgrades on their file who applied on similar dates?

Hi,

@bahadur30: This is the email for minister JK: jason.kenney@parl.gc.ca, I would not recommend to have your medical done before their request, try to wait for a while and then hit the medical centre for that :) wait for your GCMS notes and then do the things according for the report.

@ joec19: The processing time is an average time but sometimes it goes beyond the mentioned time depending on your case for CSC studies I don't think so you're able to enroll in this course on your work permit.

I hope htis help.

THanks,

Hi Nadeem - thanks for your reply. The CSC is really just an exam that one has to write. There is no University or College that one would attend so that is my theory in how it does not violate the conditions of my work permit. My philosophy here is that if a new employer requires me to have the CSC, and my work permit is open allowing me to work there, then the CSC is a requirement for my job. I did a lot of google searches and did not see a concrete answer one way or the other.

Your application was reviewed and we started processing on April 4, 2013.

Reviewed and then saying we started processing !!
Is that good news or what?
what do think the estimated time left?
note that I have paid RPRF on Feb 26, 2013

explain please

Hi joec11,

Make sure you carefully read the conditions section on your work permit. I was recently considering a professional development course as well, but my work permit says "must not enroll in educational institution or take any academic, professional or vocational training course". My understanding is that in this case ANY course is prohibited. I'd suggest reading the exact wording on your work permit and if yours doesn't say anything as specific as this you should be ok.

Hi av - my work permit says the same thing, but I called CIC this morning for clarity. Since the Canadian Securities Course is simply a written exam, no live or online classes or anything like that, they said it's permitted. Also if you visit the study visa page, it states no separate visa needed for any course that is less than 6 months.
See link here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-who.asp

For those in this category: MI02/MI03 should expect to wait for a long long time. I was told yesterday by CIC that their priority now is to clear 2008 - June 2010 applications in the next 12 months. And only after that will they look into post June 2010. They made it clear that post June 2010 will be assessed in 2013 but that doesn't mean they will be processed.

I guess, at this stage, MI02/MI03 processing really now depends on how soon they clear the pre-June 2010 files.

Hi comm2canada, where did you hear this information? There are presently applicants in this forum who applied in 2011 and have already gotten their passport requests.

Hi Joec19,

As far as i know from 2011, only Nadeem got passport request. All other are 2010 applicants.
if you look at the list in this thread all of them are 2010 applicant. and by looking at those dates, i am agree with come2canada that CPP-Ottawa is only working on Pre June 2010 applications.

Thanks,
Andy

One or two odd cases from 2011 will be decided but CIC is focusing more on the applicants who applied in between 2008 and 2010.Like some of us waited for 3 to 4 years (2010 applicants),many of u will have to wait until previous backlog has been reduced considerably.

come2canada is right, they are working only for pre-june 2010. Nadeem got passport request because he has job offer. He is under FSW2, those who are under FSW1 have no chance to get anything before all pre-june2010 are done.

I dont think thats true..I have also filed in May 2011 under FSW2...and no movement on my application yet...ecas says RBVO. I have not seen any FSW2 who applied in 2011 get MR...other than Nadeem.

yosemite - your profile says you received your meds and passport request recently. so shouldn't you have status relatively quickly?
