Buffalo interview....Pleasae help

Hi there,
I have been called for an interview scheduled in May.
I have couple of questions and eagerly waiting for answers.

1. when do the buffalo office issue visa after the interview. Do they issue it on the same day if they get satisfied ? I am asking this because I live in Wisconsin and can not travel frequently to buffalo, i am planning to move to Canada right after the interview or in couple of days after the interview.

2. I have have emails and chat log , do I have to get it translated as it is not in English to prove that we were communicating everyday.

3. My wife is pregnant and she is due in June( visa interview in May), so should I mention this to visa officer to get the process done as soon as possible or they get angry over this if we show sort of eagerness.

4. what are the chances of getting visa on the same day of interview as I do not want to come back to Wisconsin and planning to move into Canada as soon as possible.

5. I will carry my marriage certificate, wedding photos, phone bills, chat logs, emails ,,,,, what else is should I carry for the interview.

6. As interview has already been scheduled, Can I change my address during this waiting time?

7. As I just finished my MS in Mechanical Engineering here in USA, can I apply to companies saying i have Canadian work authorization though its in process

8. I lived in Canada for about 65 days, Do I need any police clearance from Canada, Though I have already obtained FBI criminal check and my home country's police clearance certificate.

9. anything else I should be bothered about.

I would gratly appreciate if some one could provide me answers to my questions.

Sometimes they do, sometimes not.

The visa officer doesn't always look at evidence brought in for the interview, though you should still bring it just in case. Things should be translated for the application, but I wouldn't bother for the interview. If you are afraid you did not send enough evidence with the application, get it translated, however.
3. My wife is pregnant and she is due in June( visa interview in May), so should I mention this to visa officer...
Mention it.
5. I will carry my marriage certificate, wedding photos, phone bills, chat logs, emails ,,,,, what else is should I carry for the interview.
Any evidence of trips taken to see one another.
6. As interview has already been scheduled, Can I change my address during this waiting time?
Yes. Just let them know.
7. As I just finished my MS in Mechanical Engineering here in USA, can I apply to companies saying i have Canadian work authorization though its in process
I say it's OK, because you will have your PR soon and will be able to work then.
8. I lived in Canada for about 65 days, Do I need any police clearance from Canada,
No.

while applying, I had submitted following.
wedding photos,
photos from the trips I made with my wife(sponsor) ,
marriage certificate,
my educational documents,
medical examination receipt.

But I had not submitted following ones.

Chat logs
telephone bills
police clearance certificates
gift receipts

I think if I would have submitted these, then I might not have to go through interview process.

You really should have submitted your police clearance certificates with your application! Even if you received them after you sent the application, once you received your AOR with your file number from Buffalo, you should have sent them. May I ask why you didn't?

My Buffalo Interview Experiance/Process
« on: February 01, 2011, 04:55:56 am » Quote

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to write about my experience in Buffalo with my interview to help other people understand the process I went through and timeline. 1st I was notified by mail that I would have an interview and that it would take place in Buffalo, NY but not date was given on the letter for the actual interview. I was surprised to see Buffalo as an interview location since it is NOT listed as an option in the application and I had actually selected Detroit as an interview location when I applied. 1 month later I received an e-mail that stated my interview date and time which was 1 1/2months later. So total time line from 1st notice of interview to date of interview was 2 1/2 months. A few days later I received a letter with further instructions about the interview. MOST IMPORTANT in the letter I had to check the box indicating I WOULD attend the interview I then had to fax this to special fax #. The fax MUST be received at least 2 weeks prior to the interview or they will cancel the interview. The letter also included a list of things they wanted at the interview including addition proof of my relationship and original documents of passport, birth cert, divorce decree, and marriage cert.

Date of Interview.
The interview was scheduled for 1pm and started at 1:30pm. It took place in a booth with a door and I was separated from the IO with glass and had an opening to pass papers back and forth. I did NOT have to go through any special security clearance before the interview I only had to show my passport and Interview letter to the security officer to gain access to the consulate and to the receptionist. Interview involved answering questions about my relationship (how it began, marriage, and life since) It was very straight forward and the whole interview lasted about 1 hour including waiting for the IO to review my documents. I was informed at the end of the interview that she was satisfied that the relationship was genuine.
Since I had lived in Canada for more than 6 months while my application was being processed I was informed that I would need to have a RCMP background check done. The IO said she could submit it and it should come back in 3-5days and then after it that I would get an e-mail informing me I could submit my passport for my Visa. I asked if that meant that I would have to return to Buffalo for my visa and she told me that no I could mail my passport to them. After further discussion and explanation of my situation (I am currently 35 ½ weeks pregnant and have been waiting on my PR to be able to get health insurance for my pregnancy from Quebec) she offered to submit the RCMP check right away and have me wait to see if it would come back right away. I then waited 1 hr and was called back in with the good news the RCMP went through and she had issued my visa.
FYI I did not need to submit any more pictures for my visa they used the pictures I had already submitted. Also if you will be staying in Canada while your PR is processed and are in Canada for more that 6 months I would order a RCMP background check and bring it with to the interview so you will not be delayed further to get you visa. I think I was lucky that they were able to do it so fast.
I hope this information is useful for people in a similar situation.

Thanks for posting your experience at buffalo, actually I have been following up your posts since last few weeks. hopefully I too get PR smoothly.
I am finishing my MS in Mechanical Engineering, do you think I could get some sort of engineering job in Toronto / Mississauga ON. I am asking this since I am taking risk by not accepting any job offer in USA because my wife does not want to come to USA and I can not stay in USA anymore away from her.

To Charlie,

while starting my application process for immigration, I did not have Police and FBI clearances. I applied for FBI clearance and Police Clearance from India after a month of application, which I received in January 15, 2011 and I received interview letter on January 11,2011 which says I should not submit any further documents and should bring them to interview. Therefore I had no option left other than keep waiting for the final interview call. secondly I was busy with my MS thesis which kept me away from focusing on my immigration process.

Ahhh I see, gotcha. OK, so you have been asked to bring them to the interview.

You should also bring along any other relationship proofs, as you said you have chat logs, telephone bills and gift receipts. Take any recent photos of visits with your wife too, those should be useful.

As soon as you get your PR and land you can get a SIN # and you can work right away even before you get your SIN card in the mail. When you go to service canada they will give you a printout with your SIN# before you leave. The card arrives in about 1 week or so. I would see no reason why you could not get a job in canada after you get PR.

Hi Jmni,
Thanks for replying back, I got one more question.

are there any other fees like landing fees, health card, sin # etc., that need to be paid after getting the visa?
