Hi Sharuu, I am in a situation and found from one of the forum you were in the same situation. After my graduation I got 2 years 4 months PGWP instead of 3 years which is up to the expiry date of my passport. Our embassy screwed me up at that time by saying they will not be able to extend the passport beyond my expiry date and I have to go home to get machine readable passport. This time I have been able to extend it. So I am asking you the same question that you have asked in that forum. Am I able to extend my PGWP up to three years/will get the additional 8 months that I have missed? Please help me.Thanks

Yes.. You can. Look at your work permit, does it say something like upto passport validity? Go ahead and ask for an extension once you have extended your passport, it shouldnt be an issue. Isnt your expiring in like april or something, dont worry about that you shouldnt be able to need to do that in the end as I am hoping you hear something within the next few weeks!

I always wanted to be an engineer... just didnt liked chemistry. When I came here realised you need to pass the basic courses, else I would have been an engineer too.

Thank you very much. Yes it does say work permit is given upto the validity of the passport. Yes mine is expiring in April 2013. I am taking precaution if anything goes wrong later (don't want to scare you). Could you pls give me the instruction (which form to fill up, CIC link, which option to select in the form for extension, supporting docs etc) how to do the extension. Were you able to extend yours? I am so grateful and relieved that I have found you . Thanks

I havent extended the work permit for quite a while, but I think if you search CIC you should be able to find it. Now, you can even apply online so try using that option. Go through the online process, its pretty straightforward actually. seulkiro just renewed his work permit, so he could be more helpful than I will be.

Is seulkiro extended his PGWP? Okay I will go through his post and see if I find the relevant information. If I see him online I will ask him too. Do you remember when you extended your PGWP? Thanks a bunch for your help.

Btw there is nothing very special about engineering. you have not missed anything buddy!

I will also look into getting a PGWP in case i don't get any update on PPR by Jan 2013.
With this guy as the minister, anything is possible.
They used to apply for a citizenship with these timelines, couple of years ago!

i extended my WP at Montreal Bernard LaColle border. Having an Young Professional WP expiring 31st July. I went there with all the supporting docs (Copy of CSQ, Employment contract and Joboffer, 150$ cash and completed docs etc. 30min...and i was out of there....

long story short.....i wanted to do it online....decided last minute to go to the border....

its funny,....paper application take 2-3 months...online 2-3 weeks...at the border 30min.... and,.....if you have to....you can take appointment at the next immigration office (here in montreal for example) and they do it there, but it can be 4 weeks ahead possibly..

Imagine, you could go to the border and get your PR there...
