Following link provides status report on implementation of GCMS. Its few months old but it mentions that GCMS has to be deployed at all the VOs by March 2011. Buffalo is one of the last ones to have it.

Hi Anum,

We have exactly the same short 2nd AOR from Buffalo. I received mine Oct 13th... Hopefully that March 9 Vermas was talking about will turn out in reality. Lets pray for the best!

Cheers! :D

big question is how many of our cases get entered into gcms and how many stay in old caips system.. i saw posts saying if the file number for 2nd aor had barcode, it meant ur file was fully entered in caips and ur file would stay in caips..
any idea where is this barcode ? i checked mine and the mail was tiny and dunno where barcode would go on it really?

this is my AOR mail

mine is 13th oct ( 2nd AOR)

Went through the link but I do not think this is giving us a really meaningful information.
All we are wanting all the way is to have our files processed QUICKER- our only concern.
Nowhere in the description of GCMS does it say that it is going to be any faster than previous system.
I do not have any problem with old CAIPS not are we overly enthusiastic about GCMS.
I do not see any reason we should be excited about GCMS as it does not tell about HOW FAST is it going to be?
Rather, I am concerned that being a new system and people just getting trained in it- I may concersely be more slow at least in the beginning. I really do not know if implementation of GCMS is a good news for any of us.
Please comment especially if you disagree !

Sorry for few typo errors hope you could get it.

i think they already went through training around dec 2010 .. it looks like the gcms helps gather info they need for backgroud processing faster.. so maybe there is a reason to believe it will make things go faster.. but still dont know how long it will take to transfer stuff from ciaps to gcms ..

only way to fond out is unfortnately wait and watch...

does anyone know how much delay is caused to application by adding spouse to application after getting second AOR?

Thanks vermas. That says it all. They are in the process of deploying GCMS till Mar 31, 2011 to all overseas offices. I think the June 2010 deployment was to ND!

Anyways, I am not going to check status for a month now!! Yipee!

Yeah.. I hope that's true and files move faster- new system probably also means speedy proceeding althogh it's a mere speculation with no evidence as yet! And yes, ND has been moving much slower past 6-8 months as compared to the same time one year back- I am seriously hoping it's not because of the NEW SYSTEM !

All - I checked and my status has changed to "In Process" probably yesterday or today.

c3373555 - Yes. All the seniors advised that I do it asap. Here is the note that I got from buffalo...pasted blow. If you have done it via a representative then I have no idea. I would think you always have the option to not go via your representative. 2 important takes form this mail is
1. I need to pay to bufallo and that can be in USD for $150. I made a cashiers cheque.
2. The old credit card application will not work.
3. The birth certificate clause is little confusing. As it mentions that "copies" of passport. I did not send the original.
4. If you send a query to buffalo, they do respond in < 3 days )))

File number:
Dear Madam / Sir,
This is in response to your email (see below).
In order to add your child to your application, we require the following documents:
processing fee for your child (if accompanying you to Canada)
your child's birth certificate
copy of your child's valid passport
3 recent photographs of your child
updated IMM0008 Generic for yourself and updated IMM5406 “Additional Family Information” form for yourself and your spouse.
a “Certificat de Sélection du Québec” for your child ( in his or her name), if you wish to immigrate to the province of Québec (micc.gouv.qc.ca/fr/index.asp)
Copies of the original documents with original certified translations into English or French are required. All documents must be sent by mail or fax (see fax number and address below).
Your child must undergo a medical examination. We will send you the appropriate form upon receipt of the documents listed above. Be aware that even non-accompanying dependants must undergo medical examinations.
Application forms, fees schedule, payment methods and photo specifications are available on our Web site buffalo.gc.ca.
Any changes to your situation will likely affect processing times of your file.
You must also take into account that the amount of money that you need to have to support your family is determined by the size of your family and the cost of living in Canada. Therefore, as your family size has changed, you must increase the amount of settlement funds required to immigrate to Canada. For more information go to: cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
Important: Note that if your child was born in Canada or if one parent is a Canadian citizen, the child is a Canadian citizen. If that is the case, you do not need to add the child to your application, no medical examination or fee is required. You must, however, send us a copy of the child's birth certificate. You should also contact the Consular section of the Canadian Embassy nearest to you to make sure the child has the appropriate travel document. See these Web pages for information:
