Are these two forms BSF186 and BSF186A the same?

I am driving a Uhaul and I am bringing all the stuff by myself. No goods to follow.

So should I fill BSF186 or BSF186A? Could someone clarify?

186a is for goods is an additional worksheet in case you run out of room or have goods to follow.

BSF 186 can be used for both goods to accompany and goods to follow. There are options on the form that you can check ( goods to follow Yes or No, in your case, just check No). BSF 186a is simply an extension of BSF 186 to allow you register all your affairs, when you run out of the room on BSF 186. Also, you need to prepare two copies of each forms. One is for CBSA record and one is for your own record.

Should we therefore fill just BSF186a ? or both of the forms? Could you please clarify ?

YOU do not need to complete these forms at all. What YOU need, is a simple list of items with a CAD value beside each item and a total at the end. One list for 'goods accompanying' another for 'goods to follow'. The CBSA agents fill out part of the official forms, sign and stamp it and normally simply staple your list to it.
