Hi there can anyone help me out, i am a British Truck driver willing to relocate to Canada can any body advice me where to start
how can i find work, can i work with my British passport or i need to apply for a resident permit, can i drive with my UK Driving license is it easy to find work as a trucker please some one advice me
1. First you are going to have to find an employer in Canada, who is willing to hire you, advertise the position on the Job Bank for 30 days, demonstrate that no Canadians/PR are available and the salary is greater than the average. Then pay $1000 to apply for a LMIA, which takes about 12-16 weeks. Not many trucking companies are willing to do that these days, because they have to get their Temporary employees down under 10% of their work force in the next 2 years.
2. If you got an approved LMIA, then you would have to take the class 1 exam in Canada and get the license, your UK license is not valid for Class 1 driving in Canada. You would be issued a Temporary work permit for the company that got the LMIA.
3. In a couple of provinces, you would be able to get a Provincial Nomination which allows you to apply for PR after 6 months of driving. The most active driving forum is at British Expats: http://britishexpats.com/forum/trucking-118/
