Bringing uncommon items / Way to list many small items

Good day,

I tried searching through the threads but couldn't find anything that would answer my question. Basically i want to pack my stuff up into boxes and create lists for all of them so that when time comes i could have some stuff packed and ready. But after packing some of my stuff i ran into a problem. See i have a hobby - electronics. I like to solder stuff and build various gadgets (usually soldering junk components to get some crappy invention that i don't use). Over several years i have collected quite a few servo motors, screws, rods, bearings and various other mechanical / electronic stuff. Most of this stuff is junk really that i salvaged from old radios or so.

My questions are following:
Can / Should I ship all this junk with me to CA? I know its junk but it took me years to gather this up and i would be sad to lose it all (since i couldn't sell it for anything, i would have to dispose of it).
If i have lets say box full of tiny bags with 5-20 tiny screws in them, must i declare all screw types / counts in my list? If so, my list would be hundreds of pages long.

Thank you all for your experience / opinions on this matter.

i don't see why it wouldn't be ok to ship these items. they are not illegal.

you don't have to list everything separately. you can batch items - 1 box of hardware (including screws, rods, bearings) and provide a value for the lot.

if you are shipping the items, the shipping company may have specific requirements, but generally you don't have to list every single item in the box.

Agreed, we bought over my partners tools etc.

Literally listed 'box of tools' on the goods to follow form, guy stamped it and we never had any trouble getting the items into the country.

List them as lots and describe the material. Wood and other organic materials may require further processing before entry (my wood furniture from Asia required either fumigating or irradiating before it was released).

Thank you for your help. It really makes much more sense to do it that way. I don't have any wood or organic stuff. My wife will get rid of all plants and we will not transport any heavy furniture. So my tools, screws and electronic junk is the only "questionable stuff".

I agree. you can bulk list items, though be careful of restricted and prohibited items. I would spend some time on these website to make sure what you can bring and what not, and any special requirements that may exist for certain items. I found there were a few unexpected items. eg. when I came, used mattresses were prohibited. Easy to make a mistake and then you will have some trouble and unnecessary expense to resolve issues.
