Can anyone provide a link or information regarding what we need to do in order to bring our personal belongings to Canada?

I've been seeing info of people writing out their list of items they are bringing.... What exactly is this for?

The reason I'm wondering is because my mom and sister are coming to visit in a few weeks and I wanted them to take 2 suitcases back with some of our stuff we don't need for the next few months, so we will have it in Canada. If I include some of my SO's clothing, is this fine??

Thanks!

What do you mean? Bringing personal belongings to Canada as a settler? If so, read this link for details:

http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4-eng.pdf

Basically, people like me are bringing some used items from current country of residence to Canada.

I read somewhere that the PR visa holder can bring in as much $$$ as he/she wants, but anything over CAD$10,000 must be declared when landing. So, we'll have a lot more than CAD$10,000, so my wife will be carrying it all once we deplane. I've been out of the country for more than a decade, but still, I don't want to risk the Canadian government trying to tax me...

We're not bringing anything else...so no worries.

Hey Steaky, thanks so much for the link. K so I've read through everything and it sounds like it's not really personal belongings.
My SO will be landing with his clothes and a few family photos. There won't be anything like cars, alcohol, wedding gifts etc to declare.
Do we have to include clothing on there?

Is it okay for my family to bring back a suitcase of clothes for us when they come in a couple of weeks, or do we personally need to bring everything and put it on this paper?

thoughts :)?

What do you mean with "thze Canadian government trying to tax me"? You have to pay taxes for bringing your money?

Interesting topic, because I was discussing similar topic in another thread and they were saying when my husband lands he will have to declare his wedding ring on his hand which seems ridiculous to me. As for us, he is just bringing his clothes plus maybe a bottle of rum, and whatever food my mommy sends with him for me lol :) So I can find reason why he would need to do all this form filling etc. He doesnt plan on importing his car, nor his tv. I am not sure how much cash he is bringing, but, we have access to online banking and western union and what not...oh and did I mention we are poor? lol yea so unless he wins the lotto, it wont be nowhere near 10g's.

Yes, include clothing on the form. There's no harm to put everything on this paper. It's okay for your parents to bring a suitcase of old clothes, but not pots and pans.
