Hi everyone!

I have a quick question about landing, it's comming up soon! I've done some research regards about the list of items I'm suppose to bring so I hope someone out there can answer it for me :)

My husband is a returning Canadian citizen and I'm landing as a Permanent Resident, is a written list only of his and my items ok? Everything that we are bringing with us are going to be in our suitcases (we are arriving by flight). We are not bringing anything with us besides clothes, books, cosmetics, some jewlery, a few household items and an Xbox? I'm confused if the written list is enough or if we need to fill out the B4 form aswell?

Thanks!

This really depends if you are going to exceed your allowed amount $ wise. If they answer is yes then you need to fill out a B4 form. You the pr with tick the box Settler and if your husband wants to fill a B4 he would tick the box Former resident.
If between you you don't exceed the amount then you will just use your declaration form that you will receive on the plane . If you go by list or B4 you need to put the value of the item down in Canadian $ .

Fill out the B4. Only valuable items need to be itemized. A suitcase full of cloths is listed as a suitcase of cloths! Serial numbers for those items that have them (the X Box). The only limit is the $10K value of any single item. CBSA will probably make you fill one out when you get here anyway (they made my wife and all she had was carry on luggage).

how did the landing go? What info did you need to bring with you? What forms did you have to fill out while landing? details....details...details...lol :)

Just clarification on the limit as I couldn't find the answer on the website. Is there a upper threshold in which you would pay customs as a first time settler? Ie if the total value of all items is over $50k, would you pay customs?
Or is there only a limit of $10k per item (not per category of item).
