I am trying to find out the process if I wanted to bring my British partner to Canada to live together (I am Canadian) and we live in the UK together. Does the Canadian gov't recognise common-law relationships. We are not married but have been living together for 7 years. Would he be granted a visa based on this? If so, what process does he have to go through?

Start by reading the very first post in this thread:

It should provide you with a great overview of the process.
