Hi all,

Me and my common law partner are currently in Canada. We applied for PGWP+OWP together, but my Open Work Permit got denied because my partner (principal applicant) doesn't have a job.
So, basically, I lost my implied status and everything, so I'd like to know if my partner will be able to bring me back to Canada after he got his full-time.

Again, we are not married, and as far as I know common law partnership is about living together, however, we won't be able to live together for a long period of time, because he will stay and I will go.

Thank you guys for your replies.

Have you lived together for at least one full year continuously and do you have evidence to prove it? (That's the definitely of common law.) If so, then yes, you are common law - and once your partner has a job that is NOC A, B or 0 skill level and has worked in that job for long enough to have a few pay slips, you can reapply for the OWP.
