Can anyone tell me what is best way to bring the funds required for landing from the US to Canada? I understand that you can bring just your bank statement, letter from your bank, less than 10K, etc.
My concern is if I do not bring the whole money when I first cross the border, it would be very costly to transfer the money from a US bank to a Canadian bank in a later time. Am I right?
Can I just get a cashier's check from US bank in US dollar at the time of landing and deposit in a Canadian bank?

Thank you.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Its depend on your situation, how many dependent you have along with you. Its not matter of 10K only, you must to show required funds in term of Immediate Available doesn't matter its more then 10K as long its required amount. Well, my personal knwoledge only, some one will correct If I am wrong that there isn't any problem by bringing all your money or more money then required amount. KEEP remeber one thing, CIC strongly advise, you must informe Immigration officer at port of entry "About Funds you have in total at the port of entry if its more then 10k" , in this case Immigration officer will give you some declaration forms etc for fill out. If you didnt informe and later they figure out, not sure how they will, but you could be charge fine or even in prison I think.

So to your question, if you think its expensive to tranfer funds later, then bring with you at time of entry. Wait any senior's reply if I am wrong.

I landed on 17 june from detroit to windsor
They asked how much money I had - I said 2200 $
thats it - they didnt even ask my bank statement
I think I can easily transfer rest of my money from bank electronically
