Hi fellows :),

I was wondering if person have for example $400K and when he wants to immigrate with his family to Canada. Does immigration or government of Canada ask where you have got these money and ask also for proof? I'm just thinking what if person for example have sold his house for $700K, do you have to prove where you got those money?

It depends on the officer you meet. Some ask you both and others let you go without requiring you to show proofs.

you have to declare any cash over CAD$10,000. If you are talking about a 700K amount why not transfer it electroncally via a bank.

I didn't meant to bring physical cash but instead via bank. For example in bank account or credit card. Would they still ask?

Bank or CRA may ask the source of the big money?

Okay. I just wanted to know because for example here in Finland if you want to save €10K to bank which is physical cash, they will ask you where you got this money. So I thought same principle would apply in Canada as well.

Yes, Canadian banks ask the same.
