Bringing belongings to canada before PR

I came to canada as a visitor and am getting ready to send my PR applicantion, I am from the US and have some of my belongings in a storage unit, no furniture, just a tv, some game consoles, books, etc, not more than 5 boxes. I know you technically aren't allowed to bring your belongings before becoming a PR, and it isn't advised to leave canada if I submit an inland app, but how risky would it be for just my husband (a Canadian citizen) to drive across the boarder without me and get my stuff?

If you are from the US, you really should be applying outland.

Your husband can bring the stuff but will have to pay any applicable taxes and duties.

Thanks for the info :), I know I should be applying outland but inland seems so tempting with the OWP and I really need to work
