Hello , can anyone tell me if its possible to add my new wife to my current work visa ? its valid until may 2016 , ... we are marrying in June this year and i would like her to join me here .
My permit is for a long haul truck driver in Alberta and my wife to be is from the Philippines we have been together since june 2013 and i am a UK citizen .
i know of other countries such as Lithuania where the new wife just flew to canada with husband and just produced the marriage certificate and was let in no questions whatso ever ... i cant believe it will be so simple for us but all stuff on computer seems to be if you have a PR and wish to sponsor a spouse ... i do not have PR status i will start the process after wedding and i return to Canada .
thank you for any help or advise you may be able to offer
.. Regards David

She can't just fly over because she requires a visa to enter Canada.

She can try applying for a visitor visa (however there's no guarantee it will be approved). Assuming it's approved and she comes as a visitor to Canada, she can try applying for an extension to stay in Canada for longer than six months.

Thanks for the reply , yes i understand she would need a visa to get into canada i just wasnt sure if she could be allowed in on my work permit as other wives do but i suspect they are involved at the beginning of the application not a year into it . will gather the neccessary information and apply for a visitor visa .
thanks

Unfortunately she doesn't qualify for a work permit.

She would only qualify for an open work permit if your job fells under NOC A, B or 0. Truck driver falls under NOC C and therefore no work permit is available to her.
