Bridging work permit

I have recently submitted my PR application via the PNP stream and my post grad work permit is about to expire in June.
I need to apply for a bridging work permit but the Feb 21 changes makes things a little confusing.

Is my employer supposed to fill in the Offer of employment form Imm5802? I am currently LMIA exempt due to my PNP nomination but my work permit isn't employer specific. The website doesn't have step by step instructions on open work permits as the checklist includes the offer of employment form.

I don't think they would have to as I am applying for an open work permit.

hi every one, my open post gradutaion work permit is getting expire on july 3 2015. i am mpnp nominee and i have applied for PR already but have'nt got file number yet.i have skill level-B job, i understand i need new work permit to maintain my status as worker in canada but i hace certain questions. i hope you guys can help me out

1) do i need to get fill by my employer OFFER OF EMPLOYEMENT TO A FOREIGN NATIONAL EXEMPT FROM A LABOUR MARKET IMPACT ASSESSMENT(LMIA) FORM #IMM 5802?

2) if yes, then which cic address my employer has to send that form to?

3)what will happen once cic will receive that form from my employer?

4) do i have to wait for something kind of confirmation from cic that they have received my form which is sent by my employer?

5) exactly when i can apply my new work permit?

I would like to share some information who have or will have the same case as mine.


I am PNP nominee and applied for work permit extension. My employer paid $ 230 fee and sent offer of employment form to CIC prior to my WP application submission.


1. You have to get your employer fill out offer of employment form along with *Employer declaration form (available with work permit application package and employer does not need to send this to CIC).

2. Your employer can submit offer of employment form directly to CIC via email.

Once your employer submit offer of employment form, he/she will get a confirmation email from CIC.

3. You can upload the form online with your work permit application after your employer sends it to CIC.
