Hi, I have a few questions. I am about to apply for a PR with my sponsor through the common-law category.
We live together in Canada, as I am here on a temporary work visa expiring in December 2013, and I want to know if I can get a bridging visa if I apply to my "local" office in London, UK ( I am Swedish).

I read something to that effect that if your sponsor application is approved (step 1 - 27 days process), you could get a bridging visa (or reference number) when step 2 is being processed.

Is this the same for both the inland application and the "outside" of Canada application? I wanna apply from "outside" of Canada, since my visa expires in 5 months and sponsorship application takes 6 months for inland.

Thanks, some help would be so appreciated !!

No - you unfortunately don't qualify for a bridging work permit or open work permit if you apply outland (through London).

If you apply inland, you will qualify for an open work permit once you have first stage approval (which takes about six months after you submit the application).

I see. That is what I was afraid of.. Visa expires in 5 months ..

Follow-up question: if I get a positive LMO from my employer, can I apply for a work visa as my PR is being processed? Or will that screw that up?
