But one day you have to leave him when you'll have your PR...If you are in the final process waiting for it and your WP is going to expire you'll need to renew it anyway, so you have the option to do it close(with your current employer or do it as an open work permit and keep working for him and have another job if you want)

that's true but unfortunately I got already 2 years work permit, I hope will get pr faster

This is a good news to us especially to those who has WP is about to expire, but this is also a sign that PR processing will be more slower??????

I believe the condition "is about to expire within 4 months" is unfair to the applicants who went through the process of LMO waiting for WP approved and being in implied status. Is it possible to get WP cancelled and get the open WP? I personally went through ridiculous procedure of advertising my job in two provinces and getting two LMOs cause the closed work permit didn't allow me even to work in the Head Office.
Generally this initiative is great however it should treat all the APRs in the same way.

I applied in Oct 2012 and rule was introduced on Dec 17, 2012 and I am waiting for my work permit and decision has nt been made yet so whay kind work permit I should expected if you guys know????

I wonder if this is also applicable to Quebec selected workers?

anybody(PR applicant or PNP PR applicant ) got open work permit under this new program ?

@ verveiko: How do you know that this is applicable to QSW? The bulletin only mentions FSWP, CEC, PNP and FSTP. In all other cases, QSW is clearly considered a separate and different stream.

Any QSW actually tried to apply and got a work permit this way?

EC-QC probably stands for Economic Class Quebec. In addition, I have eligibility type "Eligibilty EC-QC/PNP" in my GCMS notes.

I'm curious too. :o

Good point. Do you then understand that OB 485 replaces OB 420 issued June 1, 2012 (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob420.asp). OB 420 is specific to CSQ holders, but it's for a closed WP with a specific employer.

No, it does not. OB420 is for those who holds work permit and received CSQ but did not send PR application to federals yet. So those can apply for work permit renewal without LMO.
Btw, I renewed my WP using OB420, my employer did not apply for LMO.
