Bridging Open work permit

Hello folks,

My PR application has been approved first stage CEC, currently i have a LMO work permit which expires next year, I was suppose to work with this company until next year but there was some company hiccup and they are laying off everyone so am I. So that being said I cannot work for any other company after this unless they do a LMO which is a hassle.

As I understand Im kinda eligble for an open work permit through CEC. the only thing which is hindering me is the rule which says my current work permit needs to expire within four months.

My question is, Can I apply for a bridging work permit what do you guys think ?
and if it gets rejected will it affect my PR application ?

Im not sure if this question has been raised already ? Sorry if it has been asked already.

I want to work again asap i don't like to sit at home and do nothing guys please spare some advice

HI,
Sorry for your situation.

To get BOWP you should have a valid work permit(which you have) & which should expire in next 4 months(this you might not have).

But some of the applicants have got the BOWP even without second one.(read somewhere in current forum not sure) but worth trying to apply with nice explanation letter of your situation.

Even if its rejected it will not affect your application in anyway.

thanks for the early reply, I'm also trying to understand what does bridging open work permit mean really ? does it mean to facilitate an individual to keep working on a same job or does it facilitate one to keep status in canada until the decision is made for PR ?

It facilitates someone to keep working in Canada(any job) till decision is made on his/her application.
