Hi,

Is it possible to get Bridging open work permit (provided all criteria are met for BOWP) via Flag poling procedure ?

Thanks

First, you can only get a work permit at a border POE if you are from a visa-exempt country.

Second, I believe that only LMO-confirmed work permits may be issued at the border. So, I think the answer is no, but you should call CIC to be sure.

Not necessarily.. I was LMO exempt and was issued a work permit at a POE. But, I would tend to agree with jes, and would say that you probably wouldn't be able to do it at the border. Would however still give them a call to be sure.

My reasoning:

Upon receipt of the application, the processing office will confirm that:

•the applicant is currently in Canada (not sure how you flag-polling would affect this criteria)

**Just an observation

@CEC2013

You are absolutely correct.

We cannot apply BOWP at border as we need to apply it from within Canada.

I have personally tried it and the border officials told me the same thing.

Thanks
Deepak

Sorry to hear that Deepak, but thanks for confirming! I'm sure your first hand account of this will help others that may have the same doubts..

Does it take the same time to get it as regular WP (about 2-3 months)?
