Hi, This is Deepthi.

I came to Canada on a Closed work permit in Aug 2012.
I applied for PR through AINP and got my AOR in April 2013.
My application is processed in New Delhi, India.

I got laid off in June 2013. I immediately applied for an Bridge Open Work permit as my PR is under process.

The application is rejected stating:

As a foreign national in Canada you are not eligible to apply for a document of this type until you receive confirmation that your application for permanent residence will be processed from within Canada.

#####

My application rejected as it is Processed in India.

Is it required to get the PR application to be processed in Canada to get the BOWP?

Can i now change the Visa office from New Delhi to Ottawa?

Is it Possible?

Please help me!!!!

(1). Yes. The Bridge Open Work Permit is designed mainly for the lost Buffalo applicants whose work permits are within 4 months of expiry and their PR application is being processed in Ottawa.

(2). No. You can't change your visa office. This is against their program integrity policy. Your request to move it will be turned down. If peradventure they transfer it, your case will be restarted all over again from the very beginning. You may be asked to submit new documents all over again. A new case file will be opened for you & your previous details transferred into the file (DANGER!!!). The chances they will not transfer your details into the new file is 90%. This happened to my friend who was initially disqualified under FSW when he's fully qualified after completing his medical exams. He replied them & they re-opened his application only for him to be delayed for 3 years. He got delayed because all his details were not transferred into the new case file. He had to contact the MP for help. That was how he later got his PR. His wife was already frustrated having to wait for almost 4 years to join her husband.

(3). What I can encourage you to do is to use your nomination letter and apply for an work permit extension. Tell them you've left your current employer and you will require a new employer. As such, you need an OPEN work permit. Even those who have never been in Canada get work permit letter when nominated letalone you in Canada. You can explain your situation to immigration.

Meanwhile, this is my own opinion of things. You can ask from other forumites to know which way to proceed.

Thanks a lot Coshx.

This is very helpful.

My closed work permit is till Sep 2014.

If at all, i find a new employer then the new employer should sponsor me a new closed work permit with a new LMO.

Thats a long process of 3-4 months.

Its very tough to find a employer who sponsor with a LMO.

Hence, i am looking for a Open work permit.
