I plan to move to Saskatoon. I would have to sign a lease to rent an apartment.
But what if I find job in another city? If I break the lease in that case, then it would be bad for the credit history.

Is there any suggestion? Can I rent without signing the lease?

You need to find a landlord first and then negotiate the length of the lease.

You can't rent without a lease. The lease is the rental agreement. As Steaky advised, find a landlord and negotiate the terms of the lease.
Otherwise, cancelling a rental lease has no impact on your credit history. It is your ability to meet your monthly obligations that does. If the lease is cancelled because you were unable to pay your rent, then your credit score will be impacted, IF the landlord reports to the relevant authorities. In my view, your concern should be with the many fees you may have to pay to cancel the lease, not your credit history.

Not true - you can certainly rent without a lease. Some landlords rent month to month. It's just much harder to find a place if you're looking for month to month and it usually costs more. Landlords prefer the stability of leases.

OP - To answer your question, if you have a lease and then have to leave the city, then you would need to find someone to sub-lease (i.e. take over your lease) provided this is something your landlord allows. It's not a good idea to simply walk away from a lease since this does ruin your credit and can also make it more difficult to rent in the future.

And the month-to-month arrangement is agreed on in the lease. So, again, you cannot rent without a lease, but you can negotiate the terms of the lease to your liking.
