BREAKING NEWS Bill C-6 finally passed in HoC, Now reading in Senate

This bill will pass. It is obvious from the way Canadian politics work. The Conservatives have been able to delay it a d do some level of harm to Liberal politics. There might be some more delays at third reading but it will be voted to law for sure. Now the implementation will not be simple and I think a lot of the articles, especially 4/6 will not be implemented before a year or so. The government wants to make sure that the system is not burdened by too many applications

Please how does this C-6 work out for me? I applied for my PR in 2015 and should be getting this approved within weeks, however, I have been in Canada for 5 years of which, I spent 2012 and 2013 in school, 2014 to date I have stayed on with a work permit. Hopeful that my PR is approved soon.

When I obtain my PR status, how long before citizenship if this law passes with the fact that I have lived here for 5 years now (2 yrs study and 3 years work)

if you approve for your pr today it will be count from today.and from 2012 until today will be count 1 year so you have to wait 2 more years from today
