If I was the abusive sponsor, my wife would've just simply returned home to her country. She seee Canada as some strange foreign country to her, why would she try so bad to stay here when she could go back home to the place where she grew up for 20+ years? She has her siblings, relatives, and parents back home

Its one thing if someone has lived here for a couple years and have established themselves in Canada or have children here and want them raised here, that's fine. But it baffles me about the people who have only lived here a very short time and they worrying about condition 51 rather than talking about marriage counselling first or working it out.

Its a bit ironic someone doesnt want to be with their abusive spouse, but yet is willing to use them as a means to immigrate here through the removal of Condition 51

But someone could say, "Oh, if the relationship doesn't work, then the sponsored should've gone home." Just be realistic. Going back home isn't that easy. It's just like sending a cat back to the wild after living in your home. , caused by the condition51. There's a paradox, if you think
Flawed analogy. Sponsored person born and raised in his/her country for 20+ years. Has family and relatives there. Speaks the language and knows the culture. Its not like someone entered Canada as a kid, lived here for 10 years, speaks English and only remembers Canada as his home, then he suddenly is ordered deported because he was brought here illegally. Kid shouldnt be sent back "to the wild" as he left there as a kid and only remmebers Canada as his home. Sponosred person would have zero issues readapting to their home country upon return, especially when they're only here for a. short time.

Again, the issue here is not against those who have lived here long time or have kids born here, but those who havent been here long and seeking to "backdoor immigrate"

Personally, I feel the removal of Condtion 51 will set a negative precedent for future sponsorships. By far, the sponsor has the most to lose in this situation. If sponsored spouse is abused, they can ask exemption from Condition 51, or even better, just return home and leave all the bad behind and start over again. Without Condition 51, If the sponsor gets duped, there is absolutely nothing they can do. NOTHING. Nothing to revoke the spouse's PR, nothing to stop divorce courts from granting half your assets, nothing to prevent repaying the govt welfare if they go on it, you're completely helpless. Not to mention all the money you spent flying to see your spouse, all the money youve sent overseas, all that time you spent after work talking to them over the phone, only for them to dupe you in the end

+1 for your 3 posts.

As far as I'm concerned, the only people concerned about conditional 51 are those who want to break up with their spouse within 2 years of landing. Those who claim that spouses are victimized or stuck with abusive relationship, there is a clause in the condition that will allow you to remove conditional clause due to abuse.

I wonder if there are many MOC in US in green card marriages. Probably a lot less than here. Now that conditional is removed, Canada will be a easy target for PR for MOC.
