About the police certificates (the 3) from Brazil. I think 2 of them can be done online through the government websites.

My question, will the online certificates accepted? What did everyone do?

Thanks!

Oh sorry I just saw your post. Anyway if your still wondering you will need to see the Fed Police to get your certificate for sure.
The Justica certificate is only through the web. The civil police check can be had at a SAC center usually found in big shopping malls.
You can get it one visit but at least in Salvador regarding the Fed police you need to see them at their main station downtown below Pel
near the water, and you will need to give them a few days then return to pick it up. Pain in the but.

This post is over 3 years old. I don't know if these people are still around to help you.

Yes, they will need to all be translated to English or French by a certified translator.

For the second issued by the state authority for someone to get it while in Canada we need help?

Can we send a letter of authorization notarized from Canada? Second, is it okay to send a copy of her RG and or her passport and have those notarized as well. Or how does it work to get this second document?

Please help....

We only sent Federal Police and the "Justica Federal" certificates from relevant states. All of these were available online when we did that 3 years ago.

We can still access those two as well and are trying to contact someone for info on the state issued one from Santa Catarina. Why does it hAve to be so complicated????? Ughh

We didn't include any State certificates -- they were next to impossible to obtain if you weren't physically present in Brazil (at least they were three years ago for RJ and RS).

How to obtain a police certificate - Brazil

Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?

Yes. Applicants need to provide certificates from the Federal police, the Federal Ministry of Justice and the state authorities for each state in which they have resided 6 months or more.

How and where do I obtain one?

Local Requests

Applicants should contact the issuing authorities to obtain the three following certificates:

1. A Certidão de Antecedentes Criminais, issued by the federal police. Consult their website at www.dpf.gov.br for instructions.

2. O Atestado de Antecedentes Criminais, issued by the state authority. Contact the state authority directly, using the local directory for assistance.

Note: some states provide online services, such as:

São Paulo: www.ssp.sp.gov.br/

Rio Grande do Sul: www.tudofacil.rs.gov.br/

Rio de Janeiro: atestadodic.detran.rj.gov.br/

Bahia: www.ba.gov.br/

Pernambuco: www.pe.gov.br

Pará: http://antecedentes.policiacivil.pa.gov.br/

Ceará: http://www.sspds.ce.gov.br/AtestadoAntecedentes/

Distrito Federal: http://certidaoweb.pcdf.df.gov.br/

Espírito Santo: http://www.es.gov.br/

Minas Gerais: www.pc.mg.gov.br

Note: Nationals of Brazil who possess a RG (registro geral) may be able to apply online depending on the state, contact the state issuing authority directly.

Foreign nationals of Brazil may be required to apply in person or through the use of a representative. Contact the state issuing authority directly.

3. A Certidão de Distribuição– ações e execuções cíveis, fiscais, criminais e dos juizados especiais federais e criminais adjuntos issued by the Federal Ministry of Justice. Contact the local justice department for instructions or consult the website http://www.jf.jus.br/ at http://www.jf.jus.br/servicos/cidadao/certidao-negativa

Non-Resident Requests

Applicants no longer in Brazil and required to obtain the document in person may be able to have representative in Brazil assist. This will likely require a notarized authorization to request the Federal and State police certificates on their behalf. Please consult directly with the issuing authorities.

Yes, I read it. That's the same as it was three years ago. That doesn't change the fact that we only submitted #1 and #3, and it did not pose a problem.
