Hi All

I know this is a recurrent topic here, but since I've read SEVERAL threads and all give different comments on how to address this, I would TREMENDOUSLY appreciate your input on my specific case. Here's the details:

- I'm a PR (though haven't received my PR yet) and have been living in Canada for 4 months now. Have a permanent job and I'm living on my own (renting a room)
- My boyfriend lives in El Salvador, has a permanent job and a side job as Assisting Professor (certain semesters) at a University.
- His latest travel was to the caribbean (1 week or so) and was a year ago... No record on his passport though as it wasn't needed.
- We both have around CAD 3k in our bank account.
- No cars nor properties under his name

I would like him to come for christmas (just about 1 week-10 days tops as his job wouldn't allow him to go beyond that) but people give SUCH extreme reviews: 1)We wouldn't like to lie to the officers as he would be staying with me (Landlord has agreed) and I don't want him to feel nervous about having to lie at customs and 2) That given we're a couple, he is likely to overstay, so it would be better to have someone else giving him an invitation letter (He has friends at a church here)

What's the BEST and most SAFE way to go?

Thank you all in advance for taking the time in reading and answering!

More info on his ties to El Salvador:

- Living with both parents and sister. All (including him) provide for the house expenses (no receipts of any sort tho)
- He works ad-honorem every other weekend at a church with kids, meaning he can be provided with another letter to state he has other obligations in the country.

Also, any suggestions on other documents to submit will be GREATLY appreciated!

So it's a joint account with your name on it? If so then he'll have to declare your relationship to be honest, or take out your name if he's going down the friends invitation route. 3k is a bit low to be comfortably approved in my opinion.

IMO..You can invite him as friend. However, the finances are little low. You can give it a shot. If as a friend, he has to show the entire amount on his name. Employment letter, leave letter, salary slips, bank account statement for 6 months. And he should also state the reason why he will definitely go back to his place, rather than over staying. Hope it helps.

Note: I am no expert, just trying to help. Others may add more.

Sharma

Hi again. Here's some info:

- We both have +3k in the bank (each one of us, making it +6k)

What would you mean by Leave Letter? is it any type of document stating that the company he works for has giving Annual Leave for him to travel and that he's still employed?

Also, on the reasons not to overstay...well we want records of us visiting each other if an application for family sponsorship could come down the pipeline (we're not married, so can't happen right now) but I know that won't seem credible... what else can you recommend for a person who only wants to visit for a week on holiday?

Again, all comments are welcome. Really appreciate your time.

For a better chance of approval, his own application/profile should stand alone and that he can afford the entire trip on his own, without any show of support from you (even if you will do so). 6k is generally rather low, to be honest, what more 3k.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but this is usually difficult to overcome. You can still give it a shot and hope that they find your boyfriend's employment stable enough. Ideally, he should have been working there for a few years with a reasonable salary.

34 docs!
Could you publish the list?
And did he show only 3k funding or more?
