Hello,

I have big confusion. I have PGWP till sept 16 this year. My BOWP application just got approved and i have received official document. Now i am travelling to U.S.A at end July. My question is, can i still use my multiple entry visa which is valid till 16th sep to reenter in canada from U.S.A? or it is no longer valid since my BOWP is in effect now?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Regards,

You PGWP and your work visa should have expired on the same day. Do you have another visitor visa valid in your passport? Normally CIC cancels all visas except one. Check again. If you do, yes you can reenter Canada using that as that is the travel document and not your work permit.

1. You are fine. The BOWP is a work permit allowing you to work in Canada. The TRV is the visa that allows you to apply for entry to Canada. Even if your TRV was expired, with a valid work permit, you could still return from the US and St. Pierre et Miquelon without a valid TRV.

@ PMM

Just curious how is it possible to enter Canada without valid visa through St. Pierre !! Even I have valid WP till 2015 after seeing this i am thinking whether to apply for Visa or not. One of my friend moved to India on some emergency, between his visa got expired and he could not come back until he got his Visa, though he had valid WP. Is this entry allowed only through St. Pierre US ? Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Thanks,

Thank you Maniac2403 and PMM for clarification.

@Maniac2403: My PGWP is expiring on 16th sep as well as my TRV on the same date. However, as i mentioned i just received BOWP. So just wanted to find out that Since my new BOWP is in effect now, can i still use my TRV which is expiring on 16th sep.

I think i dnt need anyways as PMM mentioned.

@PMM: can you please refer to the CIC link where this is mentioned. Do you know if anyone went to USA without multiple entry visa and returned to canada with no issues.....

Thanks you.

Nope, you will not need the TRV to go to the US. Anyhow, since they didn't cancel your TRV, you still have that valid. So you are safe either ways. There are tons of experiences at this forum who have managed to do just that :)

Single-entry temporary resident visa

If you have a single-entry temporary resident visa, you will generally need a new single-entry visa to come back to Canada.
You can request to return to Canada on your original single-entry temporary resident visa, if:
you will only visit the U.S. or St. Pierre and Miquelon; and
you will return to Canada before the end of your approved stay in Canada.

Multiple-entry temporary resident visa

Yes, you can come back to Canada, if you have a multiple-entry temporary resident visa and it has not expired.

Expired temporary resident visa

You can request to return to Canada on your original temporary resident visa, even if it is expired, if:
you will only visit the U.S. or St. Pierre and Miquelon; and
you will return to Canada before the end of your approved stay in Canada.
