Quick note on the status bar, people on this forum are really fixated on it, but it really doesn't mean anything to your application. All it means is the time lapsed between your AOR and AOR + 6 months

Oh I'm not concerned about the PR percentage, its Covid times I dont expect anything to go smooth. I'd just love my BOWP to come through before implied status just incase it gets rejected and I have to stop working

Fair enough, my IEC just expired this week but seeing other folks in this forum getting theirs approved who have applied just before me, I hope to get mine this week

Would anybody know how to proceed for US born kids (who are in Canada attending elementary school and having a study permit/visitor record)? I am applying for BOWP on back of my PR application (CEC). For the record, I did not apply for visitor visa for them when the family entered Canada but got a study permit at port of entry. Their study permit (which is a visitor record) mentions my work permit expiry date as the last date.

I read somewhere that they need to have Visitor record application extension, but not sure. Can somebody help?

Sorry to hear about your refusal.

Can you say the reason they gave for the refusal?
This is the mail we received. Nothing updated in GC account yet
I have assessed your request under the Temporary Public Policy to Exempt Foreign Nationals in Canada from Certain Requirements when Changing Employment During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. Your request for consideration has been refused as you do not meet the eligibility criteria for the public policy, in that  you do not have current temporary resident status in Canada, nor are you authorized to remain in Canada until a decision is made on your application (implied status)  you are not applying for an employer-specific work permit  you do not intend to change employers and/or occupations as identified by the job offer included in your work permit application  you are not eligible to apply from within Canada under paragraph 199(a) or 199(b) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations  you have not requested that the public policy exemptions be applicable until a decision is made on your work permit application or it is withdrawn When should I contact CIC? You must notify Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) of any changes to your application. Examples of changes include:  Changes in your personal circumstances, such as birth or adoption of a child, death of a family member, a marriage or a divorce;  Change of contact information (e-mail, mailing address, telephone number);  Appointment or change of immigration representative or designated individual;  Decision to withdraw your application. Changes to your address should be made through our online service at

Did you get any update on your application? Did they approve it now?
Not yet. The IRCC call centre agent submitted the reconsideration request as she could see the document they were claiming that I did not include with my documents. They did it last Tuesday, and asked me to give the officers two weeks or so to look at it and get back to me.
