Mate, this is what the CIC website says:



Your application may be open, closed, or cancelled.

If the status is open, it means that we have received your application. When we begin to process your file, you will be notified of a change in your application status through your account.

If the status is closed, it means that a final decision has been reached on your application.

If the status is cancelled, it means that before a final decision was made, CIC determined that we did not need to process the application. This could be due to:
•an administrative error and your application needs to be re-created by CIC,
•an extension of status is required before a permit application can be processed, and/or
•CIC determined you do not need what you applied for.

Hey from what i am hearing if they have refunded your 100$ does that mean they are not going to approve your BOWP?

Also if PR gets approved and one has not landed do they have a Valid status in Canada?

Sorry i hope my questions are making sense ..i guess i m a lil confused!! :'(

Hi,

I got the same message on last week friday evening, but no update in CIC page. I am March 18th applicant and no mails from cic and no update till date.

Ok.. So it means the email doesnt mean anything. It can still take anytime between 2 hrs and eternity to get an actual update.. well there goes my hope of landing a BOWP this week..

I am a March 18 applicant. My BOWP application was approved today. (I received two emails from CIC on the weekend, but there was no status update until today.)

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for a new work permit to arrive in mail?

My application got approved just few mins back and paid spouse OWP holder fee 100$.

Quick Question. Are you guys applying under the Express Entry for your CEC? I am a new so very confused about CEC and Express Entry. It seems like a disadvantage to apply through CEC EE with canadian degree and working in canada with 1 year exp. Am I wrong? Do we international student graduates have a chance too?

I think most people who are following this thread had applied for permanent residence before the Express Entry program was initiated in January 2015. For those people, it was not a matter of choosing. They applied through the only stream that was available at the time, which was the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Please someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think CIC is accepting any more applications under the CEC. I think the cap for the CEC was reached around November 2014. Express Entry is the only option now.

Also, from what I understand, with the introduction of Express Entry, all international students are at a disadvantage. I hear that it is nearly impossible to be chosen for Express Entry without a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), which very few companies are prepared to pay for and go through a bureaucratic hell to get for recent graduates.

Just randomly checked my status on CIC accnt and it said my BOWP has been approved. Im March 19 applicant. it feels like taking 20 pounds off my shoulders lol.
