Hey guys,

My work permit application was updated a few hours ago. Now it says that the application has been approved.

Hope this brings tranquility to those who are in the same situation (AOR received after the app was submitted).

Not sure how long it takes to be printed & mailed though. Any clues?

Hi Kota1978,

Did you apply online? Additionally, did you receive your AOR?

Yes I applied through online (MyCIC) on 7th Jan 2015.
For PR I sent application in the month of Sep & received AOR on 30th Jan although while applying BOWP aor hasn't came.

Your application processing time already crossed normal processing time which is 43 days. I guess you should call CIC now for your application status query.

But how about your mycic application status? Does it say "open"?

Yes status is "Open" only & CIC call center guy is saying they are processing 7th jan application & My application submitted on the same day. Agony is since last one week they are processing 7th Jan application :( is there any other way I can speed up the process? Can you guys share some email id for this.

Thanks again for helping this.

They are working on Jan 07 apps until Feb 20. Currently, they are supposed to be working on apps received after Jan 07 & onwards. As you can see that someone applied on Jan 12 & got approval on Feb 27.

Did you call them today? Or you can just wait for couple of days more. I guess nothing to worry about.

Hi Kota1978,

As per my understanding, the call centre agents will only intervene in your case when the normal processing times pass by, and I say that by experience -- when I was still waiting for my BOWP to be approved, I called the call centre and an agent told me that I had to wait.

Currently, the webpage still says that they are working on applications submitted on January 7, so you have to be a little bit more patient. You should get an answer within the next couple days. If you don't and the website changes again (showing a date greater than Jan 7), you are free to call them again and I am sure that they will do something to speed up your case :)

Good luck!

You are a Feb 2014 CEC applicant, aren't you?

Unfortunately I still can't paste hyperlinks in this forum, but here's an extract from CIC's website containing all the requirements for a successful BOWP application:

Qualifying applicants currently in Canada who have submitted an application for permanent residence under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) or the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) may be considered for an open work permit if their current work permit will soon expire.

To be eligible for a bridging open work permit, you must:

Currently be in Canada;
Have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within 4 months;
Have received confirmation from CIC that your permanent resident application is eligible under one of the four economic classes (FSWP, CEC, PNP and FSTP), and;
Have made an application for an open work permit.

This means that all you need is to fulfill these requirements, then you are eligible to apply for an BOWP -- the remaining is immaterial.

Hope this helps.
Cheers.
