Hi everyone,
I'm an international student who just applied for my PR, my student/work visa is going to expire in 3 months. Does anyone know if i'm eligible for the bowp? I'm not eligible for the pgwp because i took a semester off.
Thank you.

Did you apply for the new public stream for PR? Do you fit in all those requirements? https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio.../extend-permit/bridging-open-work-permit.html
No no the new public stream for PR, I got my invitation in January. I'm not sure for this requirement:
  • have a valid work permit that expires in 4 months or less
I'm still following classes so I have a student visa with which I can work for 20 hours per week. Not sure if this counts as a valid work permit.

How did you apply for PR? What is your background?

I applied for CEC got one year of Canadian work experience. (was on a 1 year work permit, so it's not work experience while studying) Am doing de university program to get more points but I already got an invitation before I finished it.

Ok so, a study permit is not counted as work permit. You will need to complete your PR application. You cannot apply for the pgwp "extension"?

No I'm not eligible for pgwp anymore because I took last semester of. So basically it means right now I will have to leave Canada at the end of July when my study permit ends and then return again if my PR is approved:rolleyes:..

Any chance you have an employer in Canada who is willing to give you a job offer and get an approved LMIA?
