BOWP After PNP Nomination

Hello,


I have PNP- Ontario and applied for PR in November 2014. My work permit is expiring in May 2015. By looking at OPNP applicants' timelines, I understand that its more likely that I wouldnt receive AOR in next 3 months and so I wanted to apply for WP extension without waiting till April 2015. After reading through all your posts, its clear that I cannot apply for BOWP without AOR and I will have to apply for closed WP. I have a couple of questions pertaining the same.

1. How many months the closed WP will be valid for?
2. After I extend my WP, my wife is planning to arrive in Canada with a Visitor Visa and after arriving, we are planning to apply for her WP from within Canada. Is this scenario possible if I have a closed WP?

Any information you guys provide would be of great help.

Yes. Apply together already, she will receive an open work permit.

Closed work permits are issued for 2 years.

1. What are the usual processing times for closed WPs?
2. Do we really need an Employer Declaration Form? I work for one of the 5 Big Banks in a Managerial Position.
3. Under the list of documents, there is something like we need to show something to prove that we have all the skills for the job. What do we need to provide for this?

1. I think they are around 40 days now if you apply on line

2. It asks for a written offer of employment. If you have that then put that. My boyfriend is also going to ask for a letter of employment from his employer basically stating his pposition title and that he is a permanent full time employee.

3. You only need prof if you are in a job that is regulated. For example if you were a nurse you would need to provide your degree as well as an ECA (to prove the degree is at the same standard as a Canadian Degree of the same).

I have a employment verification letter from the employer as well as the offer letter they provided me with when I joined the organization. I will use both of these documents.

2. Q5. Duration of expected employment
My employment started in June 2014 and I am a full time regular employee - meaning that I do not have an end date. When I provide the from date that is in the past, the form doesn't accept it. Also, To date is mandatory if the answer to Q1 is anything other than Open WP/PG WP.

Please let me know what needs to be done in this case?

Eventhough BOWP with pnp nomination is open, we will end up getting a closed(atleast that's what i heard)

So i created this thread asking the same question, mbgirlfriend and fistilatte both helped me solving this puzzle.

So here is it

Select apply with same employer,
Choose open work permit ( you will end up with closed work permit)

Regarding from when to when

I filled didn't even bother filling that portion, at the end of the day its a human being who works on these applications and you would be fine.

I talked to cic and what they said, they don't reject your application for minor mistakes ( i even wrote my name wrong in the application, how hilarious is that. Lol and cic said its fine, they have enough source to find out if its just a careless mistake)

Thanks a ton BadshahIqbal for answering my question, and basically, for starting this thread.

We end up with closed work permit Anyways, I thought something is better than nothing. Just keep waiting for the AORs.

Hello All,

I thought this information might be helpful.

I just called CIC and talked to a rep there and got the answers for below questions.

1. If we have PNP certificate and we do not have AOR yet, we can still apply for the extension of work permit. But without AOR, we will be issued only a closed work permit that allows us to stick to only one employer.

2. In the field What type of work permit you intend to apply for under Intended Employment Details, we need to select Labor Market Exemption

3. If you are a full time employee with no end date, From date can be today's date and To date can be any date in the future - 2 or 3 years from now.

I got a message at CIC online status that my application has been approved today Jan 30th. My work permit extension process took 7months under SINP nomination. And they only issued this permit until July 2015. I also have pr's aor and med received since Aug 14.

Any Comments?

what was the reason for taking 7 months on your workpermit extension ,thats quite suprising ,normally it takes 6-7 weeks.isnt it?
