BOWP After PNP Nomination

Hi all,

I got my nomination today and my work permit is expiring in march 13.

So i won't be able to waiting until I get AOR from CIC, So I have decided to go with BOWP using pnp certificate.

Can anybody help me how to and where to apply this.

CIC website is kinda confusing for me.

I have AINP with no employment restriction

Here are some links for you to apply on line. Use the tool in the second link called Check your Eligibility to make sure you will qualify. At the end it should tell you that you need your PNP letter of approval and some kind of written job offer and maybe some other documentation. If you are currently working ask your employer for a Letter of Employment. Make sure they put your position and that you are a full time permanent employee and it should be done on letter head. I believe that you can also go to the nearest border crossing with the documentation it asks for and they can issue you a WP there. The one thing that will be different from this WP and the BOWP is that this one will likely be a closed WP so you will have to stay with your current employer.

Can you please detail the sequence of answer needed in order to get to that part? I've tried many times and never get to a point where they ask me for the PNP nomination as a supporting document.

So I have nomination certificate as of today.

1. Can I apply for BOWP - I got the answer reading the links provided by Mbgirlfriend. I quality for bridging application as my nomination certificate says there is no restriction to employment

2. Now I Downloaded the checklist- and it says if I am applying for BOWP with PNP, it PNP Certificate copy and a letter from the nominating province that they support issuance of work permit. In my case do I have to contact AINP office to get that (As i am nominated from Alberta)?

It's not asking me for a support letter. Although I guess It wouldn't hurt to get one right? I'm not sure what option to take. (Whether try to get the support letter and put it as a supplementary document or not).

I think some PNP need the support letter, I think it depends on what province your nomination is from. You could contact the PNP office and ask them and I am sure they will tell you if you don't need one. Although I would trust the document check list the CIC website gave you. It does ask what province you will be staying in so it likely determines what you need base on the province your nomination is from as well.

Exactly, and I applied trough AINP, and no support letter was asked on the checklist. So why worry and ask for extra documents that I'm not even being asked for?

Do i have to opt for closed? On employer driven. But it says no restrictions on employment

With our nominations we can apply for the BOWP (open), since they have the line saying "restrictions on employment - NO".

Problem for you (and me) is that we don't have the AOR, and we won't get it before the permit expires. I mean who knows how long it'll take.

So in order for us to apply for an extension WITHOUT the AoR, it's with the nomination certificate plus the job letter. But in this case it will be a closed permit.

I don't know you situation in your company (if you're planning leaving soon), but for me, well I can wait. I have a good position in a good company, eventually I want to move, but I'm not planning to complicate the proccess. Once I become a PR, I'll decide what to do.

I am unsure about one of the questions in the application form for a work permit.

The question is #1 in the Details of Intended Work in Canada. It asks what kind of work permit you are applying for. There is a drop down box and there is not an option for "Closed Work Permit.

Do you think we should check "Other" and in the box beside is put "Closed Work Permit" or do you think we should check "Open Work Permit" and assume that they will just end up issuing a closed one. I have heard of people getting Open Work Permits with the PNP nomination and no AOR but I think they were just lucky and the person who approved them just made a mistake. The worry I have is that if we put "Open Work Permit" the person who gets the application may deny it just because we requested the wrong WP.

There is a part that says new WP with same employer but then further down it asks what type of WP you are applying for and there is a drop box. Sometimes the forms CIC wants you to read their minds when it comes to filling out some of the forms they want.

I am not leaving my job or company either, i had my performance review and they want me to be with them for long time. So i am gonna go with closed

But this application they have is so freaking confusing. Like mbgirlfriend said below there is NO option in the dropbox to select closed work permit

I dont want them to reject, but the lack of clarity in their form might get me into trouble.

I know I know... Best option is probably to write "closed work permit". Kind of funny, but I mean, what else can we do?
