I'm dual Canada/American and spouse is American. We currently live in the US and we're hoping to move mid/late next year to get closer to my family, who live in a Toronto suburb.

Since we are currently both in the US, can I start the sponsorship, such as filling out the forms, or do I have to actually be living in Canada first? I need to finish some certificates here first so I can't move right now. Also, would I have to first get a job in Canada first before or can I just show we have money in our bank account?

Thanks

Since you're a Canadian citizen, you can be outside of Canada when you apply. You do not need to have a job when applying as there is no income requirement. However, you will need to be able to prove that you intend to move back to Canada after your spouse gets PR. You can show this in various ways, such as showing that you've looked for and emailed potential employers or landlords. You could also get a statement from your parents saying you'll live with them. You should write up a plan of how you'll move back to Canada.

I am Canadian citizen living abroad for over 2 years and got approved as a sponsor with no issues. I don't really have a job either. We just sent in some job and apartment searches for when we do move back to Canada. My father also wrote a letter confirming that we will live with him until we find a house or apartment.

I am currently working the US but will probably have to find a new job after moving. For the sponsorship evaluation, should I put my US job under Employed?

Also for the supporting documents in the Document Checklist (IMM 5491) for questions 17-19 - do I need to prove my current American job in there?

Also a few other questions:
For things like photographic evidence of relationship, can I just print out pictures on normal printer paper or does it have to be on photo paper?

For the police certificates/clearances, it says he needs one for every country we resided at. We taught in Korea for a year, I'm assuming that is also included?

Does every sponsored applicant have to attend either a LA or NY personal interview? We don't live near either of the locations.

Multiple photos on per page are fine. You do not need to print on photo paper. Just write (type) the details under each photo (who, where, when, etc.).

Yes, a PCC is required for each country, so the FBI PCC and one from Korea will be required. As he is a U.S. citizen, he has the option of using one of the FBI approved third party Channelers to save a lot of time.

Only those that require an interview because of concerns regarding the relationship (usually) have to travel to NY. The vast majority of U.S. applications are processed in Ottawa. Currently, it's taking less than (or close to) 6 months to complete the entire process.

Good luck!
