Hi, my girlfriend and I are applying for express entry separately (as singles) and would like to ask what are the steps, documents and fees if we get married after we receive an AOR. Will one of us have to withdraw our application or can we just update IRCC about our change in marital status?

Also, what would you recommend is the best time to get married after we both get an ITA considering we both have an application.

Thanks to anyone who replies!

P.S. We've read many suggestions regarding scenarios that only one of the couple has an application and would like to know if there is a difference with our situation.

There is no specific to know which application will go faster. The most ideal situation is adding a spouse after AOR as it does not lead to re-calculation of CRS points. You just need to inform IRCC about the change in status and they will share the list of documents with you.

If both of you submit application separately and then get married after AOR, you will have to inform IRCC about the change. Separate applications may have separate processing time for each application and that's the only difference that will be there.
