Yes but not by much.

if there is a marital status change, CIC ask you to inform them.
This usually delays the process because they start checking criminality and other factors of the spouse when you inform CIC.
However, in your case you can mention that the other person has also applied in CEC and your application process might not be as delayed as it usually is.

You both applying in CEC does NOT change the fact you have to inform CIC about your marital status change.
But, I don't think you need to worry much about your marriage affecting your application process.

Im worried because some people said it would make a delay to our application but some of them said its not because we both applied. Thanks for you reply :)

Hi there,

A friend of mine had a similar situation (but not the same). He got married 9 months after applying under CEC and including his wife on the application delayed the process by 3months. But his case was a little different from yours as the spouse was not an applicant. But if you have a work permit and a job that is valid for 6months to 1yr from now, i wont worry too much about the delay.

Trust me the marriage will bring you much more happiness than a timely PR status :)

Best wishes!!

Although CIC says, you should inform them about any change in address, marital status, etc, it's not necessary to inform them about your marriage as you are not going to include his/her name in PR application and both of you are applied individually. I am not sure, but seniors can suggest.
