Hi,

I am got my Canadian citizenship back in 2007, then my daughter was born in the US in 2011. I "think" my daughter is a Canadian by birth based on what I read from this thread and based on this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=365&top=5 . Am I correct on this correct?

Then when I looked at this link: https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/children/birth-abroad
It says that I am not obliged to register the birth of my daughter but apparently I need to apply for a certificate of citizenship for her.
If so, should I use this form? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof-how.asp

Assuming this is correct, in the document checklist: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/citizen/CIT0014E-2.pdf, under the identifying documents, two pieces of information, she has a USA passport, but she doesn't have anything else (she is only 7 years old). What kind of identifying document can she use? Can I use her birth certificate?

Thank you for all the help.

1) If by "got" your Canadian citizenship you mean you were naturalized as a Canadian citizen, then, yes, your daughter born in the USA is a Canadian citizen.

2) Yes

3) Does your daughter have a U.S. Social Security card (usually applied for at birth nowadays)? If so, use that.

Note that any certificates you send with the application will not be returned.
