Hi:
My name is Fidel; I was born on the 12th of May 1989I was born and raised in Syria for a Canadian father and a Syrian mother. I just found out that I might be a Canadian citizen by descent and I got some info about how to apply for citizenship proof. The thing is that due to the civil war that occurred in Syria I had to leave the country. So I am residing in Turkey for now. But I am staying illegally here and I wish to move to Canada to visit my dad and to finish my studies over there. My question is:
Can I in any possible way get a facilitation visa on my Syrian passport so I can travel as soon as possible to Canada? Or I must stay in Turkey till I get my Canadian citizenship proof?
It is really an emergency case. Help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If your father was present during your birth, YES, you could be a Canadian citizen. However, your best advise will be visit to Canadian Consulate and explain your situation whether you are a Canadian Citizen and if so, they might issues a entry visa t Canada later apply for Citizenship proof..

Thank you so much for your quick reply.
I think my dad was away in a business trip during the time I was born but he came to Syria to visit a month later though. Would that do it? He wants me to come to Canada and he's willing to proof his parenting in any possible way. Right now I'm still waiting for my birth certificate and after that I was planning to go to the Canadian consulate with all the proper documentations (my dad's citizenship certificate and his passports' photo copy) and I will explain my situation to them and hopefully they will give me an entry visa to Canada Asap.

They won't give you an entry visa. You need to start by applying for proof of citizenship by following these instructions:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof-how.asp

Note that this process typically takes a number of months to complete - so unfortunately nothing will happen "asap".

As I informed you, you could be a Canadian citizen already and to determine this go to the nearest Canadian consulate office in Turkey and give them the information you have and apply for proof.. There is a urgent processing options also.. Check with them..
