Applying from Colombia. Sent police check at time of initial application. Any other questions - fire them my way.

I don't suppose there is a number/email I can use to check if they (still) have the passport?

Either send a case-specific enquiry by email https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=bogota

or this page has the contact info for the embassy. not sure if they will respond, but you can try phoning
http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/colombia-colombie/contact-contactez.aspx?menu_id=11&view=d

with regards to the police check, it says on the website that you need to provide a file number. should i use the UCI number or the application number that starts with F?? Also, which account number did you make your deposit to? The website lists 2.....

You can also request the certificate yourself by following these instructions:

You must pay a processing fee of the equivalent of COP$60.000 at the current exchange rate per person, to be deposited to:

Intermediary Bank: BANCO INTERMEDIARIO CITIBANK N.A.
Swift Code: CITIUS33
ABA Code: 021000089
CHIPS Code: 0008
Beneficiary Bank: BANCO DE OCCIDENTE
Banco de Occidente Swift Code: OCCICOBC
Account No.: 10950229
Final Beneficiary Name: RISK MANAGEMENT COLOMBIA S.A.
Final Beneficiary Account No.: 223005463

Wow, thats a fast processing time...just over 7 months so far! We've been 7 months, and haven't even received an AOR from Bogota yet...

This is a very similar time scale to ours. Apart from we applied a month earlier.

Thanks for the info. I will try the email.

If I remember correctly, the embassy notified us that we had to pay more money. They told us the processing instructions. That processing fee of $60,000 pesos looks very familiar. I would supply both the UCI number and the number that starts with "F". Let me ask my wife and see if she remembers better than me.

Apparently Visa Offices issue a new file number that starts with a B, so that's why i'm wondering if we should get it now, using the file numbers we have, or wait until we get instructions from Bogota....

According to my wife, the embassy requested $50.000 pesos for a police investigation. She went to her bank and did a direct money transfer from her bank to the bank account details sent to her. She then had to mail proof of the payment back to the embassy. We can't remember what file number we used.

Great, thanks. Did your wife have to have an interview or was it waived?

No interview yet.... but as the passport has been requested, I guess she could be called for an interview any time.

I would think that if they've requested the passport, that they may not require the interview! Usually an interview date is set early on in the process, but each VO is different. Here's hoping you're just a few weeks away!

I'd be happy with just an AOR, to know that someone has at least opened my wife's file! The only thing we have left to do is the police check.

We've now got an email requesting to send a notarized copy of the marriage certificate. We originally sent it with the initial application. They must have lost it.

Ya it sounds like it. Did you get them translated and notarized initially?
