Hey Cancol, I don't want to get your hopes up but we applied a few months before you and we are already near the end! I sent in a huge amount of "relationship proof" (tonnes of photos, emails, chat records, facebook posts, and so on) and we were very meticulous and thorough in our application. Also, everything we sent in was well organized and in order. I do however, feel that we "got lucky" with how fast it happened. We were married in April 2013 and had been dating since 2011. My wife has not been to Canada yet but i've been to Ecuador many times to visit. I hope it works out just as fast for you.

Thanks Cinc! We have been dating for less time but married about the same! But he was denied a tourist and student visas last year. Hopefully wont hurt the application!

Now you guys are really getting my hopes up haha! Thanks Bolt! We have been dating since late 2011 and were married January 2013 so kind of similar. We sent in tons of conversations, photos, phone records, letters from my family and friends, plane tickets etc and I tried to be very organized about everything and very detailed in the application. My whole application package weighed in at about 7.5 kilos! They asked for proof so I sent them what they wanted. I'm very happy for you, it's very exciting and is giving the rest of us hope

So my husband just did his medicals last Friday and we sent them in to the embassy. Now We got an email asking for proof that I will return to Canada, for us to pay the background fee and send in the receipt, and for us to send a notarized copy of my husbands military card?

For proof on returning hopefully documents to show I own an appartment and letters from my family and friends are sufficient? Does anyone know?

Also, does anyone know if the receipt for the background check needs to be translated, I'm assuming so? And can we send it all to the embassy by servientrega because the email says by regular mail?

I'm assuming this is good news that they're looking at our application, hopefully!

Hey guys,

I'm super happy, My wife got her passport with the visa in it yesterday. She will be coming to Canada around mid October. She still has lots to do back home before moving. Good luck everyone!!

Hi happy to see an email last Friday requesting passport for my wife to receive her visa.
Was a lot faster process than we where expecting having sent out April 3 originally but forgetting one signature re sent out May 1,2013. Was received in Bogota July 25,2013 and passport requested Sept 13, 2013. Now just a few more steps to go and she will be joining me in canada, was great timing I was visiting her in ecuador when we saw the email.

Does anyone know when you check your application status online is it supposed to say in process if they're working on it? When I check it, the first status that appears is application received and when I click on it, it says application received June 26th and medicals received and nothing else, even though we sent in the background check receipt and my husbands military card in last week. Does that mean they haven't actually started on our file yet?

Our status eventually turned to "In Process" but it took awhile and was a week or so after we go the passport request when it changed to "Decision made." In our experience the application tracking was not up to date.

Hello,

I'm sponsoring my Colombian wife for the spousal visa and everything was going extremelly well in the last 4 months:

Application received: May 30, 2013
Sponsor approved: June 25, 2013
AOR in Bogota: July 11, 2013

However, she received on September 24 an invitation for an interview to be done on October 17. We built a very solid case (tons of pictures, emails, financial statements) and we are also married. The only thing that is probably bugging them is that we married after knowing each other for only 7 months (yes love happens!).

I see that a great majority of people got the interview waived. Anybody had the experience of the interview? Are the chances high that we get refused? And if everything goes well, how long does it typically take to complete the process after the interview?

We haven't been requested to have an interview, and hopefully not as we were only together for 13 months before we got married, but I found this website which could maybe help with what kind of questions they could ask.

hey everyone , im sponsoring my wife from ecuador. To the people who are sponsoring a spouse from ecuador.... how long has your process been? . I sent in the sponsorship application in on aug 1 2012 , it was received in Bogota on September 18 2013 and has been made a file according to the update on cic. Just wondering what the average time is , not going by what the cic website says because ive heard of many stories that have had quite fast or quite long processing times.

BTW i didn't have many chat logs because we mostly communicated threw telephone ( by calling cards ) which i sent in, we do have a lot of post marriage photos not many pre-marriage photos tho. And we have a son together thats 6months old. He has been granted his proof of citizenship certificate as of last week .
