My further investigation revealed that,

IOM or OIM is a UN Organization, with head office in Geneva, Switzerland
here is their website:

http://www.iom.int/cms/en/sites/iom/home.html

the Colombian office also have their own webpage:

http://www.oim.org.co/

I consider them legit, the real question is:

1)How much is the discount (if there is any)
2)Does it worth the hassle

Airline tickets are getting expensive these days, BOG-Toronto with Air Canada around $900, and TACA/LACSA prices are up also !

We got great news, my wife just got a letter requesting her passport :D could't be happier.
JCB and Ccunnington any word on your passports? any idea how long it takes to get it back from the embassy?

Shouldn't be more than a week or so. 2 days after we sent ours in, the embassy phoned to say that the visa and COPR were printed and ready to go, but they had lost the pictures we sent in with the application. So we couriered 2 more pictures. The lady who phoned said once she got the pictures, the passport and COPR would be couriered back to us the next day.

we got a phone call this morning that PP w/visa is ready for pick up
so it is already in our hand......just a few days less of 11 months of waiting
they also returned some of the submitted copies of documents, pictures, etc...

the OIM office in Bogota quoted around $700 for a one-way ticket for a single person from BOG to YYZ (Toronto) with Air Canada
not much savings, but still a savings, we might give it a try

Congrats! Bogota is on a roll this week.

thanks :)
looks like they are clearing out the permanent resident apps, so they can switch over to process "tourist" visas in a coming "high" seasons of Spring & Summer
we just need to find now the least expensive airfare, and without an USA visa, only AC and TACA/LACSA left

We looked at flying to mexico, and then westjet from mexico since colombians no longer need a visa for mexico, but thats even more expensive than air crappy...and from colombia, you can only fly into mexico city, so then you'd have to transfer to one of westjet's destinations....crap

going thru usa (florida) would be the lowest $$$
and it is easy to get the usa visa
but do we want to give a passport with a canadian permanent resident visa into the hands of USA embassy ? NOOOOOOOOO
how about thru Havana, Cuba ? (Cubana flies to Canada)

So...the Embassy just phoned, and they have printed my wife's visa and her COPR, however, we have to send 2 more pictures as they seem to have lost the ones we sent with the application!!!

We had the same problem. Its not an issue. We emailed the embassy about it, and they said no problem.

Hi there,
So did you make your payment payable to Defence Systems Colombia S.A. instead of Risk Management Colombia S.A.?

Thanks in advance

When I made the payment they said at the bank they were the same thing. As a matter of fact the front of the bank draft were I filled it out I wrote defense system Colombia S.A but in the bank where the machine stamped it, it says Risk Management. I know it's weird but they are both the same account number so don't worry!

We just got my wife's passport back with the visa in it.....for those of you that got your passports back in the last week or so, did the counterfoil visa have a photo on it? My wife's didn't have a picture on the actual visa, and I thought there was supposed to be
