Blue Cross Blue Shield - Alberta?

Just wondering if anyone has information on whether or not i'm able to get insurance through my husband (born canadian citizen) from blue cross blue shield? And if anyone has a general idea of what a monthly cost would be? I'm just trying to do a bit of research tonight, and will definitely contact the registry in the morning.

Just a side note, im here from the states with a 6 month stamp on my passport. well its stamped but not dated which means a 6 month stay, and am getting paperwork ready for sponsorship.

if your husband resides in Alberta and he has a Alberta Health Card you may be eligible to get Alberta health card ( you will be included in your husband's Health card) even if you are in Canada as a visitor. todo that go to the registry office with your husband take the following documents with you and you will get your health card.

1) your passport ( it must have a valid entry stamp as you will be only eligible if you have a valid status in canada i.e visitor status)
2) your husband's health card
3) your husband's ID to proof he is currently residing in Alberta.

you will be asked to fill a form and thats it.... you are good to go.

Your Alberta Health Card will be mailed to you at your residence address ( 1-3 weeks) and it will have an expiry date (i.e valid till the date you are legally allowed to stay in canada based on your entry stamp. i.e generally 6 months.). you can get your health card number even before your card is mailed in case you need it by visiting the same registry office after 1,2 days of your application submission. ( as just a health card number will be enoff to visit a doctor).

If you plan to stay longer in future and you wish apply for an extension to stay in canada (as you will if you plan to submit a sponsorship application) your health card will be extended accordingly ( but before each expiry of your visitor status you will have to inform Alberta health services by providing proof of your extended status).

In case of delay in the processing of your visa extension application (if made) you can request extension to your health card just by calling Alberta Health services by phone. such extensions are granted only for 3 months. this will cover you till you get a positive decision on your visa extension application.

I already have an alberta health card. The medication I need is not covered by just the general healthcare they have.. I thought that would have been obvious?
